Fort Garry Lions Pee Wee Gold Team Wins 2011 Provincial Title
Fort Garry Lions Pee Wee Gold Team Celebrates 2011 Provincial Win. Despite giving up their first touchdown all year in the first 10 minutes of the game and trailing in a game for the first time as well, the Peewee Gold team roared back with 26 straight points, and then survived a few nail biting moments at the end to win the 2011 title by a score of 26-14. The defense worked together as a unit to corral an elusive St. Vital running back, and managed to keep him out of the end zone when it counted the most near the end of the game. And the Offense put on a gritty performance, despite several injuries early on. Game highlights included a 109 yard punt return for a touchdown by linebacker Tim Guillou, several touchdown saving tackles by linebacker Gates McGrath, and two long TD runs by tailback Cobus Jacobs. While these players may be noted for their personal achievements, we all know that running backs need holes to run through, and other players are taking on blockers in order for a tackle to be made. Tailback Cobus Jacobs was named the game MVP. Congratulations to the players, coaches, and parents, on a successful season.

A Very Happy Head Coach Doesn't Mind the Traditional Soaking.

U of M Bison's Practice Night With Fort Garry Lions Terminators The Lions Terminators spent the evening practising with the U of M Bison's at their new facilities. This was a wonderful opportunity for our Terminators to learn from some of Manitoba's finest football players. Both 'Teams' had a great time! For more photos of the evening please go to the PHOTOS page - see top menu.
