2020 was a year quite unlike any other. Thankfully it is now in the rearview mirror. 2021 will see a return to normal, at this point, however, it is not clear what the new normal will be. The Fort Garry Lions Football Club is gearing up to meet and shape it’s future. At 7:00pm on Tuesday January 12, 2012 we will be holding our Annual General Meeting, AGM, via Zoom. We would like to have a lot of our Lions families join us. If you would like to attend please RSVP to Christine She will send you out the Zoom link.
Football Manitoba, along with 6 community Football Clubs in the city, have teamed up to bring you a Fall Flag Season!

-$40.20 for Membership and Insurance will be charged an addition for players that have not obtained their membership earlier in 2020.
-Your registration includes 2 team jerseys.
-All you need to provide is footwear (soccer or football cleats recommended) and solid-colour shorts without pockets, stripes or designs.

2020 Head Coaches
The Fort Garry Lions Football Club is now accepting applications for the 2020 season. The Head Coach is required to abide by and enforce the Football Manitoba code of conduct with his/her staff, players and parents. They will also represent the Fort Garry Lions in a favorable manner at all times.
The Head Coach will be responsible for various aspects of the football program and communicating with players and parents. They will promote long term player development and a positive team experience while keeping player safety a priority.
Please email Ken at firstname.lastname@example.org to express your interest. Be sure to include your desired age group. Applicants with no previous coaching experience with the Fort Garry Lions should also include their coaching history and qualifications
Applications may be submitted until Monday, March 23, 2020.
2020 Registration Information
Just can’t wait for football? It won’t be long now. Your first step as always, is to register online as a new or returning player with Football Manitoba. This should be available in mid February. Check back here for all the 2020 registration information over the next few weeks.
All Teams Equipment Return
Equipment return for all players, will be held on Saturday November 16th. The morning return session will run from 10:00-12:00noon. The afternoon session will run from 2:00-4:00pm.
Fort Garry Lions Annual General Meeting
The 2019 Fort Garry Lions Annual General Meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 6, in the Heron Room at the Holiday Inn Winnipeg South commencing at 7:00 pm
The AGM is open to all members of the Fort Garry Lions Football Club. (Members would be defined as any parent, team staff or volunteer associated with the club during the 2019 season).

The club is only as strong as our volunteer base. We ask that you all take some time to consider joining the Lions Board to continue the success of the club – no prior experience necessary.If anyone has any questions, please reach out to Vern or Janice.

The PeeWee team plays Eastman in the semi final, Saturday Oct 26 at 2:00 pm at Dakota Collegiate. On Sunday Oct 27, the Bantams play the Falcons in the Championship Game at 6:00 pm at IG Field.

It is time to get the equipment on and shake the dust off. Spring training camps are just around the corner.
Atom Spring Camp– Tuesday June 25 & Wednesday June 26; 6:30pm-8:00pm
PeeWee Spring Camp– Monday June 24 & Wednesday June 26; 6:30pm-8:30pm
Now that you have registered, you need equipment. All equipment fittings and distribution will be done at the Lions Clubhouse from 6:00 to 8:00pm. Here is when you can get it:

Extra Registration Dates Added
In light of the issues with Football Manitoba’s registration site last week, we have decided to hold additional registration days this week. Our highly skilled and very friendly registration specialists will be on hand at the clubhouse, Tuesday May 7, Wednesday May 8 and Thursday May 9 from 6:30 until 8:30. Come on down and get registered.
Major Team Information Meeting
We have had considerable interest from almost 20 potential players. Of course we will work to recruit 20 or so more over the next couple of months to fill out the roster. Head coach Mike Sosiak is inviting everyone who has expressed interest to an information meeting. The meeting will be held in the Majors room, on Tuesday April 16th, at 7:00 pm at the Fort Garry Lions field at 1377 Clarence Ave.
We will provide additional information on the league, our registration process along with plans for a Spring Camp and practices prior to the start of the season in August. This will also provide an opportunity to ask any questions.

The Fort Garry Lions are pleased to announce we will be fielding a team in the Manitoba Major Junior Football League in 2019. The Manitoba Major Junior Football League(MMJFL) is a tackle league for players age 18-22.

Anyone coaching football in 2019 needs to make sure that they have the proper training and or certification as required by Football Manitoba.
Respect in Sport, Safe Contact and Making Head Way in Football are mandatory for all coaches.
If you are coaching ages 7-13, NCCP Community Sport-Novice Coach is required.
If you are coaching players 14 and older, you need to have Intro to Competition-Position Coach.
